| Company Overview: Electric Insurance was formed as a worker’s compensation provider in 1927, and began selling personal insurance to their employees in the 1960’s. In 1966, the company was licensed as a property and casualty insurer and began selling insurance for everyone. Today they have about 135,000 policyholders throughout the country. |
| Our Review: This company is a private insurance company, and seems much more personable than many of the companies out there that offer insurance on the Internet. Their website has a nice set up, although it seems slightly sales oriented. Overall a good company, with good service though. |
| User Review: My job referred me to Electric Insurance for my life insurance, and the service was great. I was excited to know that when I needed renter’s insurance for my apartment that I could trust the same company that I had been with for over ten years to take care of my other insurance needs. |

| Company Overview: Netquote was founded in 1989. They offer a simple service to consumers, and have served over 25 million since opening their doors. They are also associated with over 100 of the top companies in the insurance business. |
| Our Review: NetQuote has a good customer base and a very well laid out web presence, with lots of helpful information about insurance. However, at times when perusing through the web site, it can seem like they’re too sales-oriented, as there’s always a link to “get a quote now”, even when you’re reading through the information section. |
| User Review: I shopped at NetQuote for my car insurance about a month ago, and was excited to learn that I could go to them to get the renter’s insurance that I needed as well. Their customer service is exceptional and their rates are lower than any others I found. |

| Company Overview: Insurance.Com is a small business located in Cleveland, Ohio. They are licensed agents for all 50 states. They are known in New York as Insurance.com Insurance Agency of Ohio, Inc. and in New Hampshire as Comparison Market Insurance Agency, Inc. |
| Our Review: Insurance.com immediately makes us feel welcome with their informational website. They offer many insurances to their customers, but finding them can be complicated. There are links for the four major categories, but if renter’s insurance is your need, you’ll have to go to the home insurance section to find it. |
| User Review: I went to Insurance.com to get information on renters insurance. I love how easy their site is to use, and for the people that don’t want to shop over the internet, they offer up their phone number right away. They’re a great company from what I’ve seen so far. |

| How To Select The Best Company For Renter's Insurance |
Most consumers don’t often think they need renter’s insurance when they live in an apartment or other rented property. However, renter’s insurance is essential to having peace of mind when it comes to your safety and the security of your personal property. If you rent your home, no one is responsible for the well-being of your belongings except for you. Renter’s insurance is simple, and often costs less than $500 per year, which averages out to about $30-$50 per month, or less depending on how much stuff you actually have that needs included in the covered property. What renter’s insurance will provide is the security that you are covered if your personal property is ever lost, stolen, or damaged. It is simple to get a renter’s insurance policy; it is much less complicated than homeowner’s insurance and most auto insurance policies. They policy is simply explained by offering two or three different coverage areas to you: personal property coverage, medical coverage and liability coverage just in case someone gets injured on your property and the lease provides that the responsible party in such a situation is the tenant rather than the landlord. Most landlords will include a personal property disclosure and personal injury disclosure in their leases; releasing them from any liability should damages occur to a person or the property. To find a good renter’s insurance policy, it’s going to be about the price of the policy versus the coverage you are offered. The only potentially difficult part is choosing a company that has the customer service to answer your questions and respond to claims in a timely and efficient manner. Other than that, as long as the coverage you need is offered, you can pick just about any company you want, as long as you are aware of the terms of the policy. Nonetheless, even though it seems like a simple task, getting a good renter’s insurance policy is not a matter to be taken lightly. As with all insurance, be sure to do your research, and ask questions if you need to.
